A little bit about me

Experienced and passionate, I came into childcare in early adolescence, when people began to entrust their babies to me, and I never stopped. At 17, I began nannying for 3 (soon, 4, and later, 5) children, & have since provided care & education for multiple families & care centers, with all ages & group sizes. I’m now 23, CPR/FA certified, have a huge heart for children, and am passionate about the cruciality of understanding child development, psychology, and applying a conscious, trauma-informed approach to childcare and education. The most important part about being a nanny...

Aside from the safety and wellbeing of the child(ren) as the primary focus, the most important part, in my opinion, is the presence and effect one has in the child(ren)'s life. By this I mean to say that showing up for and being present and engaged with the child, loving them without condition (not only in heart but in action) and treating them as whole people deserving of respect and communication, makes a world of difference in the development of the child and their psychosocial behavior and wellbeing throughout the lengths of their lives.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Some of my favorite moments with the children I care for are those in which the child recalls something I taught or said to them in a past moment. For example, two of my girls were coloring when the younger made a mistake and began to become upset by it. The older quickly, calmly, and sweetly responded, "It's okay if you mess up! Just turn it into something else! That's what she told me!" ("she" being myself) I was amazed because I had no recollection of having told her that, but it was something she held on to firmly going forward. When these moments happen, I am reminded that my efforts are not nugatory when it comes to equipping and educating these tiny people for the lives they will lead; that I am having some positive effect on the future of these children.
