Full-Time Nanny Job: The Sandnes Family with 1 Child
Hello! My maternity leave is ending, and my husband and I are looking for a full time nanny for our 5 month old son, starting in January.
8 hour days, start time 8:30-9:30 (you can choose). No extra responsibilities other than what is related to the boy.
The boy:
Our boy is a joy - very happy and curious. He is extremely social and loves people, smiles most of the time, except when hungry! He loves going for walks in the stroller or baby carrier and looking around at anything and everything. He can entertain himself for 10-20 minutes with his toys. An easy boy to love and spend time with.
Working from home:
One thing to note is that I work from home, in a separate room with a closed door. It is a real full time job and I am usually in meetings 80% of every day. I will not be hanging out in the apartment, just quick trips to bathroom and fridge. You will get privacy in the apartment. The nursery is a separate room and has a comfy electric reclining chair.
Still breastfeeding:
I am breastfeeding and wish to feed from the breast until we wean when he is a year old. We have test run this and it worked out well with my mother in law who has been watching the baby the last two weeks. When baby is hungry, she notifies me, he nurses for a while, I usually let him nap on me for 30-40ish minutes while I continue working (my colleagues are on board) and she/you get a little break until I bring him back out happy and fed. This is still fully workable with you and baby going on walks and trips around beautiful Brooklyn Heights between feedings.
Childcare style: I would call what we do an intuitive approach. We try to lean into learning from and listening to baby's cues more than setting up a rigid schedule and trying to force him to follow it. We are okay with aiming to do similar activities at similar times if that's your style, but if he's hungry he gets food and if he's sleepy he's allowed to sleep.
Let me know anything you are wondering about that I didn't write here!
