A little bit about us

Hi! We’re a laid-back but intentional family looking for a reliable, caring sitter to help with our 2-year-old toddler on a part-time, occasional basis.

Schedule:
• Every other Wednesday
• Approximately 8:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. (about 3–3.5 hours)
• Start date: late February
• Opportunity for additional weekday hours this summer

Children:
• Care is primarily for one toddler (age 2)
• On occasional school-closure days, care may include all three children
• Must be comfortable with multiple kids when needed

Pay:
• $15/hour for one child
• $18/hour on days caring for all three
(Short shifts; no additional household duties expected)

What the role looks like:
• Preparing and cleaning up a simple breakfast
• Diaper changes as needed
• Playtime, story time, coloring, blocks, etc.
• Some TV time is allowed
• Keeping our toddler safe, happy, and engaged while we’re out

We’ll have activities set up, and we value a sitter who enjoys interacting with kids, but we also keep expectations realistic.

Requirements:
• At least 18 years old
• Prior childcare experience
• CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
• Comfortable with toddlers and occasional care for multiple children
• Calm, confident, and kind (especially with energetic boys!)

Hiring Process:
• Initial phone interview
• Background and reference check for final candidates
• In-person meet & greet prior to starting

We’re looking for someone who feels this is a good fit for them too. Mutual comfort and trust matter to us, and we respect that every family–sitter relationship is unique.

Types of Nanny Jobs and Nanny Responsibilities in Maryland

Before you start looking for a nanny job, it's essential to learn about the different types of nannies and how they compare to each other so that you make sure you’re looking for the right opportunities.

The different types of nanny jobs have different nanny responsibilities. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. However, in general, a nanny is responsible for making sure the children's needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to make sure your expectations are aligned with the family.

There are temporary nanny jobs, even seasonal nanny jobs like summer nanny jobs. Beyond seasonal and temporary nanny positions, there are differences between full-time and part-time nanny jobs. The primary difference being the number of hours you spend at your nanny job every week. For full-time nannies, there are options for live in nanny positions and live-out positions in Maryland. Live-out positions are more common, but each family has their own set of needs that require different types of care, and live in nanny positions can be exactly what some families want. If you're looking to explore live in nanny positions, it's even more important to create a shared set of expectations around hours, responsibilities, and what is expected of you when you're not on the clock.

  • What do you think children like best about you?
  • What kind of activities will you do with children this age?
  • How do you handle problems that arise behaviorally and emotionally with kids this age?

Beyond answering questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative.
