A little bit about me…

I’m 39 and as a lifelong Alaskan I understand how important it is to enjoy time outside. I have 3 children of my own that I homeschooled for 8 years. My youngest is now 12 and my two older girls are 17 and 18. I am extremely thankful for those years I was able to stay home with them and would love to take what I have learned about child development and have fun with your kids. I love to put together fun projects for kids that help develop fine motor skills, outdoor activities, and group activities. I would love to spend time helping your children grow in a safe and fun environment. If you want your children to be engaged all day through fun hands on play I am your nanny. Also at this time I am not current in my First Aid and CPR certification but I can attend the Red Cross certification course ASAP.

Mollie - Seeking Work in Valdez

Nanny Mollie

Valdez, AK

A little bit about me…

My name is Mollie and I am twenty years old. I live here in Valdez with my husband, two dogs and a hamster. I am currently in my second year of college and I am an Elementary Education major. I also plan on getting a minor in Special Education. I have been drawn to children all my life and love working with them in any way. I have done everything from working at my churches Vacation Bible Schools (VBS), traveling to the Dominican Republic building an Elementary school, running a VBS there, helping run a health clinic for children that are sick, being a children’s activity coordinator at a beach resort, volunteering in my high school with the Special Education Students, and being in the Big Brothers Big Sisters, to being a full time Nanny and housekeeper. Whatever it is I am doing if it evolves children I am a happy person. Let me tell you a little about each of these things I have been apart of. Vacation Bible Schools were a big part of my life growing up, so as soon as I was able to be a teacher-group leader I was signed up for it. With my church I was able to start volunteering at 12 years of age. I helped with the small groups and the sports in the program every summer for two weeks. I did this for 5 years. My trip to the Dominican Republic was one of the most impacting summers and volunteering of my life. I was fortunate enough to go with a team of 35 people to help build La Vega Christian School. While spending two weeks eating beans and rice, working in over 100 degree temps carrying cinderblocks, cement bags and sitting on a metal roof we also ran a VBS where I got to practice some Spanish and help teach the children about the Lord. We also ran a health clinic where I was able to help give medications and take blood pressures and different things to help get information before the patients could see the doctor. I learned more on this trip then I could have ever imagined. As an activities coordinator at Gull Wing Beach Resort, I was in charge of organizing and running the children’s program to help make the stay at Gull Wing more enjoyable for both the adults and children. I planned events throughout the day like swimming classes, beach volley ball, soccer, arts and crafts, and sand castle contests. Although this job was a summer job I received great experience working with children. In my high school, I first started volunteering with the Special Education Program by helping teacher out with field trips. I then became so excited to stop in and see these students I formed special bonds with them and wanted to be apart of the program at our school. I then applied to be a student assistant instead of taking the normal elective classes. Then in my senior year I worked 4 out of 6 of my classes in the Special Ed room. I helped run the class, helping the specific children with their special needs. These students changed the way I look at the world today, and be fortunate of what I have, and thank God everyday for my life, and pray for those less fortunate then I am. Along with all of this growing up I have babysat many children. And for the last year of my life in Jacksonville FL I was fortunate to have a job as a nanny of two children along with a housekeeper in their five bedroom house. Their two chidren were age 2 months and 3 years old, now a year and 4 years old. To tell you a little about me personally, like I said I am 20 years old and live here with my husband. He is in the US Coast Guard and we are stationed here. We just got married one month ago and I’m still settling in here in Jacksonville. I am originally from New Port Richey, Fl and moved to Fort Myers Beach, Florida about three years ago, and now I am here. I feel as though I am called to work with children in any way I can and help further impact there lives for a better future. I am a very outgoing , fun person to be around and very athletic (played soccer for 13 years, basketball for 5, softball for 8, volley ball for 4) as well. I am also very creative and have started my own photography business. Its still in the works but I have been doing a few side jobs here and there to get started (weddings and new born baby pictures). I feel I am more the qualified to be a Nanny, and am available to work between the hours of 6am-6pm. Some nights if needed in my home or yours. I love children of all ages and will work with you on any specifics you might want or need when caring for your young one-ones. I will discuss pay with you after speaking with you about the age and hours. Please contact me only if you are really wanting to hire me. I am also a Nanny listed with JaxNanny so you can also look at the Nanny qualifications I had to meet to be listed for them. Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you. Mollie

I have been caring for children ever since I can remember. I was always wanting to help hold babies or ease a mothers burden in the checkout line by entertaining their child. How to Find a Babysitter in Valdez, AK

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Valdez, AK

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Valdez can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Valdez Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Alaska?
  • Do you have a Alaska driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
