I am a former first grade teacher and current preschool teacher, working with 2-4 yr. old children. I also owned a business providing an after school enrichment speech/drama program. I have worked with children in various capacities for the past 20+ years. I am extremely energetic and passionate about what I do and come with great references from parents of students I have taught and babysat for. I am a very active individual who loves being outdoors, cycling and walking. In the classroom I enjoy instilling a love of learning to my students. I have been a preschool teacher for the past 19 months and love engaging in fun, multi-sensory/process art projects with students, allowing them to explore and express themselves in creative, fun ways. I have a wide variety of educational materials (puzzles, learning activities, books, etc) that I own personally and would love an opportunity to incorporate these into a childcare situation if age appropriate. I am a very hands-on teacher/caregiver, believing in positive reinforcement and praise to increase a child's self-worth and confidence level, making them feel pride in all that they do. I love to have fun with children and am always one to interact with them in my teaching experiences, both on the playground and in the classroom. The children I care for always know that I love and support them in all that they do. I also love to foster and encourage independence, helping them with tasks along the way, and then encouraging and praising their efforts and accomplishments, making them proud and eager to do more. I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I was in 2nd grade and never wavered from that desire. I have a B.S. in Elementary Education as well as Early Childhood units, and have worked with children for the past 20+ years in a variety of capacities. I am currently looking for a job outside of my preschool setting in an effort to acquire a higher paying job, while still being able to work with children. I am extremely reliable, responsible, organized, & hard-working and can provide references from my superiors at work as well as families that know me from the classroom setting as well as time spent caring for their children in their homes. I would love to find a nanny position that would enable me to continue to work with children and bring the knowledge of my teaching experience to enhance the job. Extensive background checks are on file for my current job.
