Hi, I am a organized, detail oriented, self-motivated child care provider. I have spent the last 10 years providing care to children and elderly.
I love children and they seem to love me, as well.
In my last job I cared for 4 children ages 7 months, 3, 8 and 10 years. I was responsible for providing before and after school care, also full daycare for infant and toddler and older children on school holidays. I made snacks and meals, transported children to school, sports, appointments, helped with homework, light housekeeping, ran errands and anything else the family needed.
If you need help with your children, I would love to work with your family.

Hello Families,
A little about me: I am a local of Santa Cruz. I am currently a student trying to obtain a long-term goal of my Bachelor’s of Nursing. I am also a CA Certified Medical Assistant; I’ve worked in Family Practice and Pediatrics.

At about 16 I started to work as a full-time assistant for established local preschool serving 10-15 children, ages 2-6+. The daily support included individual and group care. Daily schedule activities included reading, arts and crafts, free play-time, meals prep, and project-based seasonal activities. And of course, connecting and listening to their growing sense of self and wonder and always having lots of good FUN! From there it progressed in to Nanny positions.
I am medically trained in infant, child, adult CPR and First aid.
I am interested in part time to full time work, with a set schedule, with some flexibility. Look forward to hearing more about you and your families individualized needs and what you are looking for.

I'm great with kids, also I love to teach the kids new things. If I can I want to help them learn more about how the world works and about those that have less then they do and to always give back to the community when they can.

I have been working as the nanny to three wonderful boys (6,8,11) since graduating from UC Santa Cruz in 2009. As a teen I gained experience as a babysitter and mother's helper. Also, I have spent an extensive amount of time as a private tutor and classroom aide- that's how I grew eyes in the back of my head!

Aloha. I am looking to help assist families in the Santa Cruz Bay area, preferably 20-30 hours per week. I love children and have worked with them for most of my life, along with being an aunty to eight nieces and nephews and many more (that I have adopted as family). I have worked with children of all ages from newborns to teens. A little about me and my experience: I am currently going to school for Psychology and Counseling (at the moment all online classes). I have been working with children for several years now and how found my greatest joy in the presence of children. Over the last few years, I lived on the Big Island and have created a curriculum and held kid's camps in one of the local communities with the idea of making it into an after-school program. Before going to the Big Island of Hawaii I was living in Costa Rica where I taught 5th and 6th grade and in China teaching ages 5-8-year-olds English as a second language. As a freshman in college, I lived with my brother and helped take care of my newborn niece and two nephews (which I also took care of when they were newborns). I truly enjoy working and playing with kids because they help remind me not to take life so seriously and remember how to play and laugh. I love the outdoors! Whether it involves hiking, biking, rock climbing, going to the beach, going for walks, picking fruits and flowers, anything as long as the weather is nice. I have definitely been spoiled living in Hawaii the last three years, but I am ready for a change of pace in my life and the bay area has been the perfect fit. I love to read, dance, do art, sing, play music, and play games. But out of everything, my favorite thing to do is cooking and baking. The kitchen is my sanctuary and laboratory. I am a health conscious person who enjoys wholesome fresh foods as much as possible. I understand that with having kids and different sets of taste buds meals can be somewhat challenging as a parent, or sitter, but thankfully I am a patient person. If you have any questions or concerns I'd be more than willing to answer them for you. I have references available upon request. Thank you.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Santa Cruz, CA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Santa Cruz can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Santa Cruz Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in California?
  • Do you have a California driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
