I have been working in childcare since I was 13 years old. I started off babysitting my 3 year old brother and his friends who were around the same age as him. Then I moved on to working in actual childcare facilities and I also was nanny up until I moved to Ga with my family.

I'm an honest and responsible person; I'm on time and take my job serious. I love kids and enjoy spending time with them, teaching them every day things. (their numbers, colors, shapes, how to write, show them how to tie their shoes, etc) getting them ready to enter school. Make learning a fun thing. Instead of watching TV all the time we would be coloring, building blocks, reading, spending time out side, there's puzzles to build, making cards, crafts to do. For the school age ones scrapbooking and baking is always fun. Helping with homework is a must. I've been Director for the Church Youth Group for a total of 7 years, ages 5 years old - 16 years old. The group is like Scouts. I have 8 years experience in child care. I've taken care of 3 year old twins, 13 month old - 10 year old. I have a 6 month old grand daughter who I've taken care of for the first two months of her life. The first family I was with for 4 1/2 years the girl was 13 months old and the boy was 4 years old. We would spend time reading, playing at the park, going to the zoo. As they got older I would take them to their activities, like karate, piano lessons, ball practice and getting them on and off the school bus. The second family I was with for 3 1/2 years they were 3 year old twins, girl and boy. I was responsible for the same thing. I would also pet sit their animals. For both families I prepared breakfast, lunch and some times dinner. I helped clean the house and do laundry. I would stay with the children over night for 3 or 4 days while parents were out of town. I have a letter of recommendation from my last family if you would like a copy. I'm available the week of Oct 3rd. Thank you for your time, Gwyneth

I have worked with children my whole life. Even as a child in elementary school I would skip out of Sunday school to work in the church nursery. I started babysitting when I was 13 and continued to baby-sit until I went to college. In the fall of 2002 I started substituting- January through May of 2003 I worked there as an enrichment room teacher. I was the Children's Ministry intern for the summer of 2006. I have also taught art classes to children and adults ages 5-42 during my summers . I was a nanny for a family with a new born and a two year old for a year and a half. After that I was a nanny for a friend with an infant for six months at which point they moved.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Fayetteville, GA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Fayetteville can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Fayetteville Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Georgia?
  • Do you have a Georgia driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
