I have had many years of childcare experience, from infant to older teens. I love children of all ages, and have experience in just about every area of child and household care. I am a very happy and extremely energetic person who strives to be educated concerning all aspects of child care. I have homeschool experience through high school, and I also currently privately tutor several children. Children are my passion, and I strive to excel at what ever the family I work for needs. I do all I can to provide complete care for "my children" as well as the home, if needed. I have a completely safe driving history. as well as outstanding letters of reference from each of my past positions. I want to make your life easier!

I have been working with kids ever since i was 17. I started at an in home daycare i would do that for the summer Monday through Friday. I did that for about 2 years. i would take the kids to the park. I would help prepare meals. Help with naps and changing the babies. One summer the mother at the in home daycare told me she wanted to take a break for the summer and i asked me if i would be interested in taking two of the kids to my house for the next summer. I said yes. The next summer came around i had two boys ages 2 and 3. I took care of them Monday through Friday. I prepared meals and took them to the park and planed daily activities for them. I also worked at a gym in the daycare part. I watched the kids as their mom's workout for a few hours. Right now i do work at a hospital and i am CPR certificated.

I owned and operated a daycare/group daycare home for 15 years. I directed operations of a daycare home in Livingston County. This includes supervising and training employees and caring for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age including children with special needs. During this time I worked as the Livingston County Coordinator. I developed and presented health and safety programs for child care providers in the Livingston County area.

I have mainly taken care of three families. Ive worked with a family that had twins who were premature. I fed them, changed diapers, and did educational activities with them. The second family Ive worked with was a family which cared for a two year old named Christian, he touched my life forever. By the age of two, he had two open heart surgeries in St Louis Memorial Hospital, we would do daily small activities such as slow paced therapy and memory picture match, if I could I would have adopted him. Ive also worked for a woman named Marge hrough an agency , I was her caregiver up until she passed away. I got her pill regimen everyday, prepared pre diabetic meals for her and ran errands for her. We also would sit and talk for hours.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Lockport, IL

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Lockport can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Lockport Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Illinois?
  • Do you have a Illinois driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
