I have over 10 years experience with babies, toddlers and preschoolers. I have a degree in Early Childhood Ed and daycare/preschool experience. I've been a nanny for the past 10 years and a postpartum doula for 3 years. I've worked with twins and triplets, as well as one baby. Most recently I worked for a family with a set of identical twin boys. I started working as their postpartum doula on their first day home from the hospital. They needed continued care after the 3 months ended, so I stayed as their baby nurse, then worked as their nanny until they were 16 months old. I started out helping the parents adjust to new parenthood, teaching them how to breastfeed/bottle feed, and how to soothe, bathe, and take care of their babies. Later, I took care of the babies while their parents worked - nurturing them, doing age appropriate activities to promote their motor, emotional and social development, doing the baby's laundry, preparing their baby food from scratch, and keeping the areas we used tidy.

I am a mother of a 1 1/2 year old boy. I am a stay at home mom and looking to bring home a paycheck. I used to manage retail stores for over 9 years until halfway through my pregnancy. I am mature and extremely responsible. I would like to find a job babysitting where I can bring my son along so that he can learn to interact with other children. He is an absolute delight and loves to kiss and share. However, if you are looking for help 5pm or later or on weekends, I do not need to bring my son, since my husband will be home at that time. I enjoy going to the park, malls, reading stories, watching Baby Einstein, and playing. I would love to do this with your child as well. I have a 100% clean driving history, I am a smoke, alcohol and drug free mother. I have no pets in case your child has allergies, and I will ensure your child is safe and well cared for at all times. If I am somebody you are looking for, please feel free to call me at your convenience.

My last experience as a nanny was wonderful! I took care of a baby at 6 months and saw her grow ... I stopped working for the family when she was 2 years and 2 months. And just stopped caring for her because they had to change the country. But I can say it was very nice and gratifying to be part as a member of the family as I did!

I started my childcare experience by babysitting for a local family when I was just 15. They had 3 children, 2 twins girls and an older little boy. I became part of this family and loved every second of my job. Since I was still in highschool I would come after and stay until around 9 at night when their father would arrive home. The next childcare position I held was at an actual daycare. I was the toddler teacher and was responsible for roughly 13 toddlers between the ages of 18 months to 3 1/2 years old. This job was so unbelievably rewarding. It was a little different then just babysitting, because I was responsible for lesson plans, theme weeks, etc. I then started working as a Nanny for a local family I had met through the daycare before they relocated. I would arrive at their home around 7am in time to get the children off to school and stay until about 5 pm Monday thru Friday. During the day I would run errands, clean the house, take care of their infant children, pick the kids up from school, take them to after-school activities, and usually have dinner on the table for them.

Gina was amazing with my nephew Bradley . He was 7 months at the time, she was with us for a month as we were very busy at this time and she was a great help, good problem solving, even cleaned our kitchen! Bradley was always happy with her singing and dancing. This was a big favor to us. Definitely recommended her to my family - Elvenie Desrosier

Valeria P.

Valeria has a lot of patience, she is funny and manages to entertain the child even though he is moody. I certainly recommend her. - Sandra

Lailatou B.

She was always courteous, punctual, respectful and did her job correctly. As soon as she enters, she is ready to start her duty right away. My daughter was always excited to see her! We are still in touch with her for some occasional gigs! I highly recommend her. She is very passionate about school and helping others by always going above and beyond! Thank you! - Boureima

How to Find a Babysitter in Hilltop, NJ

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Hilltop, NJ

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Hilltop can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Hilltop Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in New Jersey?
  • Do you have a New Jersey driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
