I worked in a Pre-K class as an aide this past school year. I have 10 years experience working with children and being a nanny. When working I like to keep the children busy with outdoor play, art and crafts, baking and playing games. My philosophy on time outs is 1 minute for each year of their age, but before the time out I usually give a couple of warnings and let the consequence be known (no dessert, no favorite game, etc.). I am a certified teacher and graduated from William Paterson University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I am looking to work either early mornings or afterschool. I do have 2 children of my own and that is the reasoning for not wanting full, 10 hour days. If you have a part time scenario that you think may work- e-mail me! Any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

I've grown to really love kids and enjoy taking care and interacting with them. They as well seem to grow a quick attachment to me. Since I was twelve, I've been raising my two little brothers from two months old where they now no longer need my care at 14 and 17 years old. Other childcare experience I've had includes a month of caring for a 5 month old and his 6 year old sister, 6 months with a 10 and 11 year old girl and boy (respectively), and 8 wonderful months working for a family with a spirited and loving 9 year old boy. I've also done some babysitting for friends of the family and worked in an elementary school's afterschool program taking care of 6 and 7 year olds for two years. I've also worked in a portrait studio, which shockingly entails a LOT of work entertaining children, so I can promise I am extremely patient with kids. I've never had official nanny experience but after raising my two crazy and fun-loving brothers, I am confident that I could handle anything thrown at me. Literally! =) I don't mind doing the dirty work or being a great play pal, and I certainly don't mind getting down to business and making sure everything gets done and everyone gets along.

Georgina D.

Gina was amazing with my nephew Bradley . He was 7 months at the time, she was with us for a month as we were very busy at this time and she was a great help, good problem solving, even cleaned our kitchen! Bradley was always happy with her singing and dancing. This was a big favor to us. Definitely recommended her to my family - Elvenie Desrosier

Valeria P.

Valeria has a lot of patience, she is funny and manages to entertain the child even though he is moody. I certainly recommend her. - Sandra

Lailatou B.

She was always courteous, punctual, respectful and did her job correctly. As soon as she enters, she is ready to start her duty right away. My daughter was always excited to see her! We are still in touch with her for some occasional gigs! I highly recommend her. She is very passionate about school and helping others by always going above and beyond! Thank you! - Boureima

How to Find a Babysitter in Lodi, NJ

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Lodi, NJ

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Lodi can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Lodi Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in New Jersey?
  • Do you have a New Jersey driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
