I have my own car so I can drive to and from the babysitting job. I am fluent in both English and Portuguese. I'm a huge bookworm and I love education so homework help is in the package deal! I'm looking forward to babysitting a couple of times a month or on date nights! Feel free to reach out to me! (Availability: 3pm - 10pm)

I started to work with children at age 16 as a babysitter, that's when I decided that I love working with them. Later on, I became a teacher's assistant at a preschool in my country and then I became a teacher for almost 2 years in the same institution. After all, I came to the US to work as an Au Pair for 2 years and then I went back to my country where I worked in Wall Street Institute for a year tutoring teenagers and adults. Right now I go to school and I'm looking forward to taking care of children again :).

After bringing kids to school, unload the dishwasher and put in breakfast dishes. Laundry when load is ready. Help them to make own beds. Pick up kids from school. Homework, after school activities, sports, lessons and/or play date. Drive them to all activities.

My name is Taryn and I am CPR certified (infants, children adults). I also have education in early childhood development, but plan on continuing child development and safety courses. I love teaching young children. I have a clean background and good health. I'm also willing to submit to a background check. I drive a safe 2010 Nissan Maxima, with full coverage insurance. So if transportation is needed, your child will be in a very safe vehicle. Experience: I have been baby-sitting for over seven years and a full-time nanny in the past, for children ages newborn to 4 years old as well as up to three kids at a time. My most recent direct child care experience has been with children ages 0 months and up (especially ages 6 months-36 months and 4 years-7 years). I have also taken care of children with health/allergy complications and special needs children. I enjoy art, photography, creative writing, music, homemade crafts, laughter, and of course making a difference in a child's life! I'm very hands on, and like to fill the days with crafts and activities, rather than sitting in front of the television. I've always been very safety conscious, and take precautions to keep the house/play areas safe. I'm warm and nurturing and really enjoy feeling like part of the family, where we can all collaborate together on projects and really appreciate working with each other. I want to help enhance the skills your child already has while encouraging them to experience new things while being consistent. With the children I care for, I like to incorporate art, music, dance, and educational learning into our days. I'm not strict, but I am firm. I do not discipline with anger and isolation, I try to encourage 'time-in' where feelings can be discussed and therefore worked through, leaving the child feeling accomplished rather then angry. I am familiar with most child medications, and I am able to dispense in the proper dosages. I feel very comfortable with babies/toddlers as well, so feedings, diaper changes, exercise, and reading time are not a problem. I am very interested in young development, especially watching little ones grow and teaching them new games, trying new foods, as well as exercising, walking, potty training, etc. I like to spend time outside with outdoor activities such as the park, picnics, swimming, nature walks, and outdoor reading/crafts. I am very honest and dedicated to what I do and take the initiative to get things done. I have a very open personality and get along with almost everyone. I like having good communication with the families I work with as well as an open family-type relationship. I won't hesitate to make calls to the parent or ask a question if I need too, and as well I like the parents to feel just as comfortable to do the same. I'm reliable and always on time. I can perform light housework: -Laundry -Dishes -Organizing -General Tidying -As well, I can run any errands if needed (grocery shopping, dry cleaning, basic household supplies, etc) I also love to cook and think up new recipes! Meal preparation definitely won't be a problem. I also know wonderful recipes for kids that can be completely homemade and healthy. I also can do cloth diapers. I can provide excellent references for previous jobs.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Union, NJ

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Union can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Union Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in New Jersey?
  • Do you have a New Jersey driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
