A little bit about me

Hello, all!!

A little bit about me- I was born and raised in WA state and grew up on fresh apples, huckleberry syrup, and Jesus. I relocated to Nashville a few years ago to attend school at Lipscomb University and graduated with my BA this past May. I've always loved working with kiddos and helping to create great childhood memories for them!

I have an extensive background caring for children beginning with the years that I taught martial arts. From ages 3+, in groups or individually, I created fun exercises and opportunities for these students to have fun and learn self-defense. I always had a blast teaching these kids as martial arts is a great way to learn while having fun at the same time!
Soon after my time teaching martial arts, I worked at a daycare as a head instructor. My class was mainly 4-year-olds, however, I also cared for 3-year-olds as well. Most often, this class had 10+ children so I am very experienced in dealing with more than one child. My class and I always had fun adventuring outside, working on arts & crafts, and having story & reading time! I was promoted to a supervisor position for the daycare's after-school program where my team and I helped children with their homework and created fun learning projects and games.

I would LOVE the chance to talk with you about your needs and the needs of your little ones!

A little bit about me

I am a professional nanny and household manager of 7 years with exceptional references. I pride myself in being organized, punctual, and reliable. I have an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. I love children and enjoy their company immensely and find nothing is more rewarding than taking care of them and providing them with a safe, nourishing, and trusting environment. I have outstanding organizational and communication skills, which I believe are among the most important skills for a nanny. In addition to my many years of being a nanny, I have worked as a household manager, personal assistant, and have been in charge of food and meal prep. These other positions have helped me develop exceptional multitasking and time management skills that contribute to my child caring abilities. I am currently searching for a new position as a part or full time nanny and/or household manager as well as occasional babysitting. Please let me know if you would like a copy of my resume.

How to Find a Babysitter in Nashville, TN

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, a dedicated hiring agent, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Nashville, TN

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Nashville can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Nashville Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Tennessee?
  • Do you have a Tennessee driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
