A little bit about us

My husband Ben and I had our first baby, Lucy, in July 2023 and we are interested in a part-time (Tues, Thurs) nanny starting in November and will likely need this infant care through August 2024. We are very open to sharing a nanny. I am a pediatric psychologist and researcher and Ben is a middle school principal. I work from home and we have one very friendly dog. We have a big fenced in back yard and only dog care would include letting our pup in and out sometimes. We could host or split hosting the nanny share. We are new to all of this and are interested in learning more about how to make this work and hope to even find some new friends for us and our baby Lucy along the way! We hope to switch to full-time daycare by September 2024.

A little bit about us

Hello! We are looking to explore part-time Nanny sharing set ups for our three month old son. Both my husband and I work from home, so we are hoping to share our space and a nanny with another child or two. our sons name is Lenny, and we are looking for childcare starting in February 2025, probably part time to begin with Tuesday through Thursday each week from 9-4. We have two dogs and a fenced yard. We do not expect a nanny to be responsible for any pet care, but anyone in our home should be comfortable with dogs. They’re very sweet and lovable! Mainly, we are just looking for someone who can give Lenny loving attention and basic care and play so we can focus on our jobs exclusively several days of the week!

How to Find an Infant Care Job in Portland, ME

If you’re looking for an infant nanny job, you’ve come to the right place! We can help you find an infant care job in your area. Start by telling families about yourself in your profile, and then chat with families to find the right fit. When you think you’ve found the right match, you can turn the discussion towards compensation and responsibilities.

What is an Infant Nanny in Portland, ME

An infant nanny is a nanny that specializes in caring for newborns. They are skilled in diapering and providing care for any rashes, swaddling, bathing, feeding, and burping. Some infant nannies further specialize in care for premature newborns or multiples.

Preparing for a Nanny Interview for an Infant Care Position

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is an infant nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:

  • What is your specific experience with this age group?
  • Are you Infant CPR/First Aid certified in Portland, ME? Are you willing to be trained?
  • How do you handle a crying baby?
  • How often do you usually offer parents updates during the day?
  • What do you feed an infant? At 0-3 months? 3-6 months? 6-9 months? 9-12 months?
  • How do you set up the infant’s crib for a nap?
  • What kind of activities will you plan to engage my baby?

You should be prepared with your references for past nanny jobs, and ideally, past infant jobs. Prior to the infant nanny interview, be sure to think about questions that you might have for the family. This is a great time to ask questions about the responsibilities and compensation for the infant nanny position. To make sure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities, we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
