A little bit about us

Our Ann Arbor-based family would be grateful to find a nurturing, thoughtful, and dependable nanny for our daughter P. (and any siblings down the line). Must love kids! Our ideal match would be available to start in early to mid-May (start date is flexible) for weekday childcare from 8-4/5pm, M-F on a long-term basis (ideally at least 2 years, or more depending on when the stork arrives with siblings). $15-30/hr depending on experience, skills, and services provided. We prefer someone who is willing to help with light housekeeping and meal preparation associated with childcare activities, and who is a nonsmoker, has a college degree, is CPR/First Aid trained, and has own transportation. A little bit about us: we are a loving, fun, energetic, young family. P. was born in March 2020, and is incredibly sweet and smiley. At almost 11 months old, she loves to play on her play mat, "read" her books, take rides in her wagon, and look out the window. My wife Anne and I both teach -- I am working from home right now, as is my wife (who will continue to work from home 2-3 days per week for the foreseeable future). Right now, I am on leave and we are beginning to search for a nanny to care for P. in our home starting in May 2021, when P. will be 14 months old. We look forward to hearing from you! PS We also have two cats, but they live in my wife's office so if you are allergic or just don't like pets, you will not need to interact with them. Thank you for your interest!

How to Find an Infant Care Job in Ann Arbor, MI

If you’re looking for an infant nanny job, you’ve come to the right place! We can help you find an infant care job in your area. Start by telling families about yourself in your profile, and then chat with families to find the right fit. When you think you’ve found the right match, you can turn the discussion towards compensation and responsibilities.

What is an Infant Nanny in Ann Arbor, MI

An infant nanny is a nanny that specializes in caring for newborns. They are skilled in diapering and providing care for any rashes, swaddling, bathing, feeding, and burping. Some infant nannies further specialize in care for premature newborns or multiples.

Preparing for a Nanny Interview for an Infant Care Position

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is an infant nanny job interview. Here is a list of some infant nanny interview questions to prepare for:

  • What is your specific experience with this age group?
  • Are you Infant CPR/First Aid certified in Ann Arbor, MI? Are you willing to be trained?
  • How do you handle a crying baby?
  • How often do you usually offer parents updates during the day?
  • What do you feed an infant? At 0-3 months? 3-6 months? 6-9 months? 9-12 months?
  • How do you set up the infant’s crib for a nap?
  • What kind of activities will you plan to engage my baby?

You should be prepared with your references for past nanny jobs, and ideally, past infant jobs. Prior to the infant nanny interview, be sure to think about questions that you might have for the family. This is a great time to ask questions about the responsibilities and compensation for the infant nanny position. To make sure everyone has a shared understanding of the role and responsibilities, we recommend asking for a job offer or a nanny contract. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
