I have been fortunate enough to be a part of many different types of care giving services. I was able to baby-sit in high school and also worked in the after school program for Erie Elementary. I would help "manage" and entertain up to 20 kids after school while waiting for their parents to pick them up. We would provide crafts for the kids, take them out to play on the playground, give them snacks and play multiple games with them. I was the youngest employer and was grateful to have the opportunity to learn from those more experienced then I. also hired me as part of the community school program to teach cheerleading to a large group of Erie Elementary girls. The program lasted multiple weeks and ended with a final performance for their families. Not only was I in charge of creating routines, and teaching them certain skills but also made sure they were having fun by playing games and getting to know each and every girl. A final job I had was through a non-profit organization. It provides academic and behavioral support for at risk youth in . In the summer they provided an affordable summer program for low income families. I was in charge of around 15 5th and 6th graders and from Monday till Wednesday I would teach them Math and English. Thursdays were dedicated to taking the kids on field trips to different places such as the pool, zoo or Denver Aquarium. I have a true passion for kids and look forward to not only getting to know them but becoming an important part of their life. Note, since I am in School full time I have no problem babysitting at night and on weekends but my hopes are that I will be able to find a family close to Erie that I am able to Nanny for all summer long, Mid-May through Mid-August.
