Working with children has been a huge part of my life. I have been working with children for as long as I can remember. My earliest experiences started with my church's nursery. Since then I have baby-sat for ladies meetings, numerous people in my local church, and I have also worked with children on an educational level. My senior year in high school, I nannied and did housework for a couple with 2-year-old twin girls. When I go home from college during breaks, I still see them at our local church and they always run over to me and give me a hug. I loved nannying them and still have a relationship with them. During my first three years of college, I worked at a wonderful day care where I learned so much from the teachers and the children themselves. I worked with children ranging from 6 months to 4 years old. Going to work and having the children run to meet you is one of the greatest feelings I've had. It makes work not even seem like work. I love working with children and people have told me repeatedly that children love to be with me. The summer after my freshman year in college I substituted at a day care. This job also gave me opportunities to grow and interact with children. I have worked with children on an education level as well. I have received 70 hours of training which is a teaching method specifically designed for dyslexic children. For the past two summers, I have worked at school camps for dyslexic children. This was a totally new experience for me but I learned many things in dealing with older children. My major in college being Communication Disorders, many of my classes dealt with language development, especially in children. I have also taken a child psychology class where I learned about child development, physical, social, and verbal. I believe that because of my many experiences, I am very well-rounded when it comes to caring for children. This is one of my passions and I promise to do by best in any situation that comes my way.
