A little bit about us
We have two kids who keep us on our toes in very different ways: our 1-year-old is curious, mobile (walking any day now), and just starting to explore everything (so someone with real hands-on infant/toddler experience is a must), and our 7-year-old is more independent. She loves TV, reading, video games, and is fairly independent. There may be ocassional local travel involved using our car.
We're looking for someone patient, attentive, and comfortable managing two very different age groups at once. Experience with toddlers, specifically, is a big plus.
Since this is new for our family, we'd love to start with a meet and greet and/or shorter trial visit before moving to full weekend hours, so everyone can get comfortable at their own pace. We're happy to share more about our routines, the kids' personalities, and what a typical weekend looks like once we connect.

Duties would remain on site at home. I work from home so I would be nearby if you need anything working from my office upstairs.

What is the typical interview process for a nanny job in Knoxville?
The interview process for a nanny job typically begins with a phone or video interview. If this goes well, you will be invited for a personal interview. You may meet the children during this stage or at a separate, subsequent meeting. Some families may also request a trial period to see how well you interact with the children and manage your responsibilities. It is also common to have a background check conducted before the final job offer.
What is a nanny contract and why is it important?
A nanny contract is a legal document that outlines the agreement between the nanny and the family. It details the nanny’s responsibilities and duties, salary, work schedule, house rules, and more. This contract is crucial because it ensures that both parties have clear expectations and understandings of the job to minimize potential misunderstandings or disputes. It’s always recommended to have a nanny contract when you find a nanny job.
What is a nanny payroll and how does it work?
A nanny payroll is a system for managing a nanny's salary and tax responsibilities. Nannies are considered household employees, so families are required to withhold Social Security and Medicare taxes and to pay unemployment taxes on their wages. Our nanny payroll service provides a simple and legal solution for managing these tasks, ensuring that both families and nannies are protected and compliant with all regulations.
Why are background checks important for nanny jobs?
Background checks are an essential part of the nanny hiring process. They provide families with crucial information about a nanny's criminal history, driving records, and sometimes even credit history. This helps ensure the safety and well-being of the children and provides peace of mind for the family. Nanny Lane provides information about background checks and how to navigate them when you're looking to find a nanny job.
