A little bit about me

I am currently a registered behavior technician for young children with autism. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a bachelors in developmental psychology in June 2010. Shortly after I became a Behavioral Therapist in San Jose, CA. I provided ABA therapy to children on the autism spectrum ages 3 years and under. Prior to my current position, I was a Developmental Therapist providing floor-time therapy as well as some ABA therapy to children on the Autism spectrum ages 18 months to 5 years of age. I was also a Preschool Teacher for the 2-3-year-old class at Potrero Kids in San Francisco for almost 3 years. I also have a lot of experience babysitting on the side for over 25 years and would love to become a full-time or part-time nanny. I currently live in Pinole, CA and I have a reliable car and valid drivers license. I am also CPR certified and have plenty of references. I am also bilingual in English and Spanish. I love to be outdoors and just having fun!

A little bit about me

I am currently looking for more fulfilling work. I have a 3 year old and found I really enjoy being with kids. I have fun during playtime and also have an easy time remaining patient and calm during tantrums. My style of caregiving would follow my style of parenting - which is to keep a consistent routine that includes mealtime, lessons, playtime, and clean up. As far as handling things like hitting and screaming, I like to address what their feeling first. Then during a calm moment, talk about what could be done next time instead. I don't try to redirect or jump in to fix things in order to prevent a tantrum. ex: My kid used to meltdown if their stack of blocks fell over and would scream for me to rebuild it - I wouldn't. Instead I would simply ask, "Are you feeling frustrated because you're blocks fell over?" and offer a hug. Once calmed down, I'd suggest they rebuild it on their own. Now my kid likes to knock the blocks over on purpose and exclaim, "Oops, time to rebuild."

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Pinole, CA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Pinole Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Pinole? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Pinole?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny
