Hi, my name is Ava and I am a student at Sonoma State University. I am looking for a nanny job as the summer months approach (and into next school year). Here's a bit about myself: I am 20, going on 21 in September. I love the outdoors and am always staying active when I'm not in school. My experience is extensive especially for my age. I have been a nanny to the current family I work with for 5 years, and I have 8+ years of childcare/babysitting experience. I have experience with infants mostly with helping and babysitting my own cousins from a very early age, but also with other families. I also worked in a small day care center at a gym watching children as young as 3 months old, and was responsible for up to 12 children at a time by myself. All 15+ references would be happy to be contacted. Over the last two summers I was also a camp counselor for preschool aged children where i helped come up with and implement. I have experience watching children from newborn to age 13. I am a Early Childhood Education Major and hope to go into teaching or early intervention for Children on the Autism spectrum. I was a Life Guard for 3 years so I am very comfortable around pools, oceans and water bodies in general. I am CPR, first aid and oxygen administration certified, and renew all 3 regularly. I am comfortable working with up to 4 children at a time on a regular basis, can handle more i.e. play dates, etc. I am comfortable with any age range, but younger children is where I have the most experience. I love arts and crafts and am never without an idea for activities, I love books and reading in general. I always have a list on hand of new ones and old favorites. I also love sports, and other outdoor activities(: I will have limited availability until the 23rd of may, but once school is out I will be available full time for the duration of the summer and most of next year (Mon-Fri, and some weekends). My hourly rate is usually around $20-$25 or so an hour due to my qualifications and experience. But it depends on number of kids, household expectations, and other arrangements/responsibilities discussed with the family. I also have my own transportation and a reliable car. I hoping to be working a minimum of 25 hours a week and am happy to work more. Im also available as an occasional/date night/weekend sitter I can do daytime, evening and have experience and am comfortable over night.

Most of my child car experience comes from babysitting my own cousins and siblings since the age of eleven. I have worked with ages infant through 16 years old and have worked with up to 12 children at a time including multiples. (Twins) I was a full-time nanny for one year for a family with three children and a puppy. Children were ages 7, 9, and 11. I began every morning early with them to make lunches and get them to school. Then I would do some light house work, dog care, grocery shopping, and other chores before picking them up from school, making them a healthy balanced dinner and escorting them to various activities. I would help the children with their homework, and make sure they were bathed and off to bed before I was finished. I felt this was a lot of work but I loved doing it and I had such a wonderful family to work with.

I have been working for children since high school. I began working as a swim coach in 2007 where I have worked every summer since then. I teach/coach children ages 3-18 on swim and racing techniques. Also, because I met a lot of families through my swim coach position, I have also been babysitting since 2007 as well working with infants to kids up to 15.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Rohnert Park, CA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Rohnert Park Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Rohnert Park? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Rohnert Park?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in CA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
