A little bit about me…

I'm currently a stay at home. My son is 2 years old and I would bring him along, so I'm looking for parents who are open to that. I'm really kind and great with kids. I plan to open a daycare in the upcoming years. I've also ran a daycare for a very small amount of time while the owner was on vacation. I enjoyed that a lot and the babies were wonderful. I love teaching children and will never use any form of touch to discipline a child. Safety is my number one concern. My vow is to watch over ever kid like a hawk so there will never be any surprises or any accidents. Your kid will learn a lot from me and will ask for Ms. Angie every time a sitter is needed! :)

A little bit about me…

My name is Diana, and i've been caring for children since I was 12. I've been married to my awesome husband, Joel, for four years, we have no children. I started sitting my younger cousins, and continnued to care for them until they moved when I was 15. During this time I also volunteered at my church from the age of 12 until the age of 19. I worked with two groups, the first group were children 2-9 at Sunday school. I was the assistant director, and was in charge of planning activities for children, snacks, group activities, & changing the younger ones diapers. The second group met on Monday nights. It was a program designed for special needs children, similar to what we did on Sundays, but more focused, one-on-one attention to children. I worked with an autistic boy named Matthew. He was very sweet and quite the challenge to work with, but I loved every second of it. I worked with all the children, including children with downs sydrome, and more mild disabilities. It was a very fun and rewarding program. For the past three years, I have been a nanny for a family with one boy, age 12 now. It has been my pleasure serving this family, and getting to know their child. I'm looking forward to moving forward, and getting to know a new family.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Calumet City, IL

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Calumet City Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Calumet City? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Calumet City?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in IL? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
