Hi! I have been babysitting/nannying for 5 years. I have worked with pre-mature triplets to 5 kids at once, all ages. I have nannied for 3 kids, 7, 13, 15 over the whole summer for 2 years. I’m energetic and LOVE working with kids! Totally willing to take them out and do fun activities, and clean up the house. Looking for a full time nanny job for the summer only then leaving for school!

I am 20 years old and I have babysat for 7 years. This past summer I nannied for a family with two children, every day. That included driving them to and from practices and camps. I love to have fun with children, so in my past jobs we have gone to the park, or pool, or etc. a couple times a week. When I work I put my whole heart into the job, and really try to make it as fun as possible. Sadly I went off to college and the family I worked for had to hire a full time nanny, so I am now in search of a new family to work for.

I have worked in many different child care settings; including School programs, Church programs and home child care. I have also worked for many years with children with exceptionalities. I am also going to school for Occupational Therapy in the field of child development. I believe children of all ages should be actively stimulated both physically and mentally. I’m not a big fan of TV, but I love science!

The last two and a half years I have been a Nanny to a professional family with five children, current ages four through ten. It's been an absolutely fantastic experience. Responsible for all meals, medications, getting ready for school, driving to various schools, working one on one with four year old (Alena) on letter and number recognition, counting, writing, coloring, painting and reading. I also take her to Dance, Gymnastics and Swimming. When I pick-up six year old Alek, we do school homework then homework that the parents have assigned. We eat lunch and either go to Hockey or we do puzzles, crafts, play-doh, games, swim, parks and bike rides. We go from there to pick-up the three oldest (Aidan, Austin and Alyssa) from school, unless boys have chess or Alyssa has Brownies. I make dinner while supervising the oldest doing their homework and assisting Alyssa. We then get everyone ready for all their various sports; uniforms, bags, water bottles, Gatorade and gear. We eat dinner and then I have all the kids ready to leave at their different times and various sports. During the summer, there is Vacation Bible school, Hockey, Theater camp, Baseball, Gymnastics, Homework, Pump it Up, Museums, Monkey Joe's, the Beach and the Library. As you can see, this is a very challenging job with high expectations! But it has been so rewarding! There is nothing like the unconditional love and laughter of a child. I have raised three young men. They are polite, respectful and very intelligent. They were all enrolled in excelled classes at school. All three took Chinese in High School. My oldest is a self-taught guitarist who is now a part-time sales person for Hewlett Packard while attending college. My middle son is a senior, also a part-time salesmen, while taking college courses in HS. My youngest is an avid reader who is also in AP classes. They live with their father, who was able to stay in the Huntley school district after the divorce, which we felt was very important to their continuing education for advanced placement students. They are good kids who have made smart choices so far in life. Their father and I are very proud of them! We attribute some of their success to our strong belief in a continuous love of learning. It has been my single most rewarding thing I have ever done and continue to do. I cared for five babies to toddlers in my home for three years before having my own children. I used my degree in Education to have a creative and fun learning environment. We laughed and played while learning and creating. I have a background in Art and used that creatively to teach the alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors with various Disney characters that I drew. We also worked on age appropriate behaviors; such as saying please and thank you, learning to share and working with others and potty training. There was lots of outside activities as well; going to the park, walks, and swimming, etc. Volunteered for Willow Creek Community Church Infant Program. Fed, rocked, played with and changed diapers while services were being held. Wonderful opportunity. Many multiples! BS in Art Education, NIU Have taken CPR

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Crystal Lake, IL

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Crystal Lake Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Crystal Lake? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Crystal Lake?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in IL? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
