Worked for a short period of time as an internship at the YMCA daycare located in Somerville which showed me even more how enthusiastic I was about working with children. Also spent some time with the Somerville High School daycare center doing a few months of internship where I realized I loved creating and coming up with ideas for projects and lessons for the little kids. After graduating High School I knew I wanted to follow my dreams and work with kids, so I got a job as a assistant teacher at a Daycare in Somerville. Working at the daycare made me focus more on my studying and get the experience I needed to become a better caregiver. I was able to do many courses and learn from teachers with more than 40years experience. I was also able to deal with different children and parents from all different cultures, which helped a lot understanding each child’s needs. I decided to leave the daycare because I felt I could give a child more then just going to the same playground everyday and playing with the same toys everyday. The winter months would break my heart to not be able to go anywhere with the kids. After leaving the daycare I worked as a nanny for a family with twins age 3 and a 7yr old. Unfortunately they were leaving to England within 6 months. My second nanny family, the kids were 11 months old and 4yrs old at that time. I stayed with them from August 2014 – October 2016. My responsibilities included washing and folding laundry, driving kids to activities and playdates, cooking, homework supervision and whatever else they needed help with. My current job I started in October 2016 until July 2017. With this family I'm mostly taking care of their 14month old son while 3.6 yrs. old daughter goes to school full time. All jobs gave me extra experience on being a responsible employee, teaching me more communication skills, being on time, caring and paying attention to children's needs. Also learned how to be calm and being patient and dedicated on doing the best I can possibly do.

I am a loving god mother to three boys in two separate families and LOVE children. I have been babysitting since I was 13 and took a babysitting course at The Faulkner Hospital in the Boston area. Recently, I was a nanny for three teenaged girls (ages 10-14) for a month as the sole care giver in two states - traveling across the country with them and also worked as their tutor.

I have thirteen nieces and nephews of all ages. My oldest being 18 years old and the youngest being 2 years old. I have babysat them for years and have stayed with them, they have stayed with me, I've ran to the hospital with them, clothed, fed them and been a very dedicated auntie. That's why I'm their favorite! Also, have watched over my friends children for years now and have been just as dedicated to them as I am to my family.

I am a person who enjoys a long term job so that I can really connect with my family and bring out the best in their child/children. I enjoy being active with children and spend most of the day outdoors or doing educational activities which are really important for development . Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Chelsea, MA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Chelsea Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Chelsea? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Chelsea?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in MA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
