Maintaining a safe and clean environment, are two out of the many things I'm great at. Coming up with activities. Getting outside is a must for me. Meeting the needs of your child is a priority for me. I have worked in two different day cares the experience was great I spent 4 years at one day care and a year and a half at the other. I have been working with kids since the age of 14. I'm available tue. wed. fri. All day. I also took a couple of college courses in infant todler curriculum, and child psycogy.

My caring for children began at a young age, I had to help my mother out a lot with my brother, due to his constant illness and needs. I was even left home alone together, leaving me in charge to help with his medications and going to the bathroom, etc. This eventually led my family to begin to have me watch my step sisters alone at age nine. From there, at age 10, I watched the neighbor's children, who were ages 9, 5, and several months old. I was their steady babysitter until age 15, watching them full weekends and while their mother was at work. I was also watching several other families' children through the church as well, as well as working in the nursery on Sunday morning during the church service. Soon, my father's neighbor asked me to watch her three special needs children, ages 5 and two newborn twins. I watched the children over the course of several years, and still watch them whenever their mother asks me to. As I began to enter college, I only worked nights and weekends on occasion, as well as working for a vending company part time. In the beginning of 2012, I was contacted by a woman. I began to work for her family in March as a full time nanny for her two children, ages three and 18 months. For the past year I have worked for the family, but in June they will be moving. As much as I will miss them, and love their family, I have began my search for the next wonderful family!

During my thirteen years of babysitting/nannying, I have worked with children from 1 month to 13 years old. My experience ranges from babysitting for an hour at a time to staying over night with children for over a week. I have worked for single parent families as well as couples and have traveled with families on vacations and business trips. I enjoy spending time with the children outdoors-staying physically active is a very important aspect of creating a healthy and stimulating environment. My experience as a teacher and artist allows me to create a variety of interesting and entertaining activities for children. A typical day for me would involve taking children to and from school, light housekeeping, shopping and meal preparation, driving the children to and from after school activities, play-dates, appointments, doing arts and crafts, and outdoor activities. I have always created a positive, nurturing and safe environment for all children and families.

I am warm, loving, active, patient and reliable mother of two (ages 5 and 2) with 12 years of experience as a career nanny. Having two children of my own, I understand the importance of exceptional care, and communication. The demands of being a parent, working a full time job, and running a household can become very overwhelming so it has always been important to me to keep the parents underwhelmed by providing expectational care and being proactive by going above and beyond. I have cared for newborns to age 10 and I have loved every stage!

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Quincy, MA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Quincy Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Quincy? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Quincy?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in MA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
