A little bit about me…

To whom it may concern, My Name is Denise and I have an extensive background working with children in many settings. I am well educated and believe in teaching children through play. I graduated from Regis college majoring in Psychology and also took additional early childhood education classes at Middlesex Community College. In addition I have begun to work on my masters at Endicott in Special Education and am in the process of getting my teachers license. I am also first aid and CPR certified. I enjoyed working at child care center for 8 years with children birth through school aged. I began working as an assistant teacher while in High school and moved up to assistant director by the time I left which was due to a move. I became Director II certified through OCCS (Office of Child Services) in this time. My most memorable accomplishment while working at Knowledge Beginnings was being a lead teacher for both an infant classroom and Toddler/ Preschool classroom. This allowed me to create a warm and nurturing environment for the children and parents. I was also able to plan the curriculum according to each child's individual needs and most of all have fun. While I was there I would foster each child's development by playing games, doing arts and crafts, through imaginative play and staying active. I also have training working with children with disabilities in a school setting and home setting. For the last two years, I worked at Nashoba Learning Group, a school for autistic children as an ABA therapist. Additionally on a part time basis, I provided home based therapy for a few families over the last couple years. This September I had a baby of my own and am looking for a nanny position where I can bring her with me. I am very flexible with scheduling and am open to full or part time. My educational background and many years of experience has prepared me to be able to multi task and provide quality care to more than one child at a time. My strong work ethic and love for children make me an ideal candidate for a nanny position. Sincerely, Denise

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Townsend, MA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Townsend Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Townsend? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Townsend?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in MA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
