About my experience, I came to USA as an Au-pair, which job is working with children, for two years. My first family, Chinese and American, they have two toddler boys. This age kid they need to pay attention on them, so I always keep my eyes on them. Because they are curious on everything. I spend whole year with them. My daily work, cooking twice a week, do the laundry, clean after kids eat and play I will let them know how to clean after playing toys, Mandarin tutor read and write, drop and pick up kids from school, take them to lib or zoo every week, bath them. For young one, i need to change his diaper, feed him. Another family who is a American family, they have three kids, their kids ages are 4, 7, 9years old. I only need to prepare the breakfast in the morning, then drop off to and pick up them from school bus stop. Then prepare some snack, and help them finish the homework, play soccer, go take walk to farm, lib, ride bikes, until their parents home. sometime help with dinner. Then I got marriage, and left them. After these families I also have part time job in NYC. There is a family from another city, they was visiting in the city, couple month ago, they needed me for looking after their three kids, 4, 6, 8 years old, then the parents could hang out shopping or have dinner. Children and I, we had great time. When they left, they said when they came back they would call me help them again, cause the kids love me. Then one month later, they came back, and I helped them. Also, before I came to USA, I have to have enough experience about taking care of children. Then American family will let me come to USA from China. When I was in China, I helped my mom's friends or my family, they have kids, and also my mom work in kindergarten, so when I have time I will help them to take care of kids. Their age between 1~4years old.
