A little bit about me

I’m going to be 30 in January (i’m an Aquarius). I have a BA in English, and a history of being a theatre kid. In my spare time i’m a writer (one published chapbook of poetry/pre covid correlated and executed a biweekly open mic), an avid traveler, and someone who dreams big.
I’m a big believer in art; be it creating and playing word games/writing our own stories, drawing/coloring/painting, making music, tracing leaves and shadows of plants to help learn about their ecosystems - I think art is essential in kids’ lives.
I can hand mend clothing and blankies and have never met a stuffie too far gone to fix! I’ve been told i’m an excellent cook and believe in healthy balanced meals. I do have my drivers license as well as my own vehicle. I also have several years of experience working with groups of children, as well as autistic/disabled children. I have my own house as well if you’d prefer to drop your child/children off (just know we have two very lovable cats here too!)

A little bit about me

Hello I’m an 18 year old who was raised with 4 younger siblings so I have a decent amount of experience with children. Since I was young I’ve always loved helping kids and if I have an opportunity to do it as a job I’d be so grateful. If you have any more questions about myself I will not hesitate to answer them (:

A little bit about me

Babysitter for many kids growing up. Mother of 4 kids for 17 years now. Ages 5,9,12,17. My youngest just started school. I prefer to help a family keep their child/children out of daycare instead of working at a daycare. I know what it’s like to want the best/safest care for your child/children. I am not first aid/CPR certified at this time, but would be willing to obtain them. I would tread your child as my own. I don’t prefer to cook, but am willing to help if discussed. Food provided/directions given etc. Don’t mind light housekeeping. Prefer FT, but would possibly consider PT. Looking for a stable family/hours needed.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Hamburg, NY

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Hamburg Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Hamburg? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Hamburg?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in NY? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
