A little bit about me…

I have babysat for families since I was around 13. I have worked with children of all ages. I have worked at a summer camp as a camp counselor the last two years. From that I have worked with ten kids a day, ranging from ages 5-12 so I am confident working with multiple children of any age. I am CPR certified in infant, child and adult CPR. Among these things I just generally love being around kids!

A little bit about me…

I love working with and taking care of children. Ever since middle school I have held many varying babysitting positions. Most of the families I have worked with average two children, but I have also worked with a family who had four kids as well as spent four days watching them while their parents went on vaction. While working I watch the children, cook and clean when neccesary. I have worked with newborns through middle school aged children and really enjoy all age groups. I also have experience babysitting a little girl who is autistic, she has taught me a lot and I feel comfortable working with kids with special needs. I have also taught and helped out with all different ages of kids in my church. I have experience there taking care of many children at one time ranging from working with infants to kindergarteners to middleschool students. I have also been on several short-term mission's trips which I worked with kids and led vacation Bible school. I also have spent my last five summers both voluntering ang working at a summer camp for kids in Ohio. I really enjoy working with children and hope to not only serve you, but also make it into a career one day.

A little bit about me…

I have a love of children of all ages; I love to see how they think and learn, and I delight in watching them mature physically, emotionally, and mentally. I love to provide snacks, games, and activities that are both fun and stimulating. Throughout my years of babysitting and nannying, I have been privileged to experience a wide range of children from all different backgrounds and with all different capabilities. I loved nannying for twins and took a keen interest in nannying a toddler with special needs. I do work out of my house, so transportation to our apartment would be necessary. My husband and I are newly weds, and since he attends graduate school full time and works as well, it is too hard to share our vehicle. We live in a safe community with a comfortable and child-friendly flat.

A little bit about me…

I began watching children by working in my church nurseries. I have volunteered here for almost 10 years. There was a nursery for infants and a nursery for toddlers, and I worked in both. I have also been babysitting for 7 years. I was a babysitter for one family from the time their daughter was 1 until she turned 6. I also babysat for a family with 4 children occasionally. I worked several times watching a 6 month old girl. On and off I have also babysat my neighbor's 3 children. There are other families that I would sit for occasionally for as well. These jobs have involved children from the age of 6 months to 12 years old. Three summers ago I worked as a part-time summer nanny for a single mother with 2 girls ages 5 and 8. I would work 2-5 days a week, usually 10 hour days. I took them bike riding and swimming. The last 2 summers I have been a kindergarten sunday school teacher for 20 children at my church. Last summer I was also working as an assistant teacher in a first grade summer camp classroom. There were 14 children in the class. We played games and had fun, but we also worked on math and reading skills.

A little bit about me…

I began babysitting as a young teenager for families in my neighborhood as well as caring for my own siblings. I maintain great standing relationships with all of the families I have worked with and it has been a blessing for me to see their children grow and mature through the years. I have rocked to sleep, sang new lullabies, changed countless stinky diapers, learned about a very hungry caterpillar, nursed boo-boos and scrapes, settled disputes, cleaned up the worst of mealtime messes, walked miles to parks, discovered hiding places, driven to school, rejoiced over stick figure masterpieces, and have experienced some of the best hugs and butterfly kisses I'll ever know as a babysitter.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Nyack, NY

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Nyack Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Nyack? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Nyack?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in NY? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
