Anne B.

First and foremost I am the fourth oldest of ten children. Coming from such a large family I was expected to take on the responsibility of caring for children at a younger age than most. My experiences growing up in a large family are what gave me the love of children that I have now. I have been a nanny for four different families with young children. In three of the four positions I only had the responsibility of caring for one child, in all three of those positions I started caring for the children when they were anywhere from 3 months old to 6 months old. The fourth and most recent position was that of a family of three children ranging in age from 2 to 7. My first nanny experience ended because the family relocated due to a job. The second ended because the child was ready to start Pre-school and the third ended because they were expecting their second child and had decided to have a stay at home parent. I have also worked for the Boys and Girls Club where I ran the Education Center for kids ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade.

I have many younger kids that look up to me. I have babysat kids for at least 7 years. I have babysat kids all day and cooked for them. I have also cleaned the house for the parents while there at work. I have taken care of sick kids and done well with making them take there medicine. I love kids and love to take care of them.

Grace P.

Grace babysat for my infant daughter (who is now 2) and toddler son over the course of 18 months. She was on time, communicative and seemed to really enjoy the kids. - Tara

Anisha H.

Anisha has a kind heart. She has a deep love and compassion for the children she works with. She is able to manage several children with grace. Anisha is very responsible and is a hard worker. I will miss her deeply. - Regina K. Hieb

Jacky C.

She was always happy to take care of my little girl Paige. My husband and I work different shifts but it was difficult to get a good nanny for our daughter. She was kind, helpful with cleaning, and had a light dinner for us when we got home. Definitely would hire her again for summer job! - Hiram Soria

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Ontario, OR

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Ontario Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Ontario? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Ontario?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in OR? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
