Guilford, VT

A little bit about me…

Hi there! My name is Candace. I am a career nanny with over 19 years experience. I love being part of the parenting team and getting to know and love an entire family. I still keep in touch with the families I have worked for as they all hold a special place with me and I with them. I value continuing my education in the nanny profession. I attend nanny conferences (yes there is such thing), am up to date on CPR/First-Aid, etc.
I have many hobbies which include, photography, baking/cooking-although I am not a gourmet chef 😉, traveling, etc. I am also big on volunteering and very passionate about ending the mental health stigma and advocating create awareness for this cause, especially in our own backyard. I have volunteered with my churches, children's ministries and worked with the Make A Wish Foundation. I am moving to Greenville initially staying with family while I find a great fit for the next nanny family and from there will know the best area to secure my own housing!

"I can't say enough good things about Candace. I had been a stay at home mom for the majority of my child's life and after my divorce in 2019 I needed a nanny to take care of my 9 year old daughter while I worked crazy hours. Candace came in with her bag of snacks and games and loved my child in a way that made me comfortable enough to bring Candace into my home. I was getting videos of my daughter and Candace having dance parties, coming home to artwork and a home cooked meal every day. From January 2020-March 2020 she was there 7 days a week so not only when I was at work, but also my days off. She cooked us dinner, breakfast, cleaned my home and did my laundry on top of making my child extremely happy. This transition would have been impossible without her help ad unconditional love. Candace would have still been with our family if COVID-19 didn't change literally everything, causing me to work remotely for the rest of the year. Candace still remains a part of our family."

"Sophie has been an exceptional nanny for my daughter starting when she was about 5 months old. Sophie has a natural ability to connect with others, making her a trusted figure in our household. She showed a high level of initiative and organization by keeping the living space and nursery clean and tidy, preparing educational activities, and working toward new developmental milestones with our baby. I would recommend Sophie to anyone looking for childcare!"

"Addison was an incredible babysitter for the time I had her! Me and my husband both work full time jobs and our kids during the pandemic were not in school! Addison was honestly one of the best babysitters I’ve had in a long time. If you’re looking for a babysitter who is willing to go above and beyond Addison is your girl. My kids LOVED her and couldn’t wait to see her each day. She fosters a great relationship with the kids and honestly can do it all. Great services, 10/10 would definitely recommend."

How to Hire a Nanny in Vermont

Nanny Lane is an easy-to-use website that helps families find experienced local nannies in Vermont. Simplify your nanny search and find your perfect nanny today. Our services include background checks, nanny contracts, and nanny payroll.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Vermont

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Vermont Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Vermont? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Vermont?
  • Do you have a Vermont driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
