A little bit about me…

Hi! I am a recent college grad with several years of nanny experience and many years working with children. I have a natural love and affinity for working with kids and have gained many skills through my experiences and education. Outside of work, I love to take my dog on walks, do yoga, read, and spend time with those I love.

A little bit about me…

I have 3 beautiful children and have been a stay at home mom since my oldest was born 18 years ago. I’ve watched other children in my home off and on over the years, and currently work at a donut shop part time while my kids are in school. Taking care of children is what I know and what I’m good at. I’m patient, loving, and take seriously the responsibility of child care.

A little bit about me…

Hi I'm Madi! I'm 21 years old and from Mapleton. I have been going to Utah Valley University working towards my degree in dental hygiene. I love to be outside! Some of my favorite outdoor activities include walks, boating and skiing. I love spending time with my family, they are everything to me. I also love to shop and all things girly! However, I also know how to get my hands dirty growing up with 2 brothers and no sisters. I love animals especially dogs! I have always adored kids and have been babysitting since was old enough to take care of myself. I genuinely enjoy spending time with children, running errands, and cleaning. I can't wait to have kids of my own one day!

A little bit about me…

Utah - 5 children (7,5,18mo, 18mo, 9mo when started). Started Oct 2014. This position was a mothers helper with a SAHM. Main responsibilities were to entertain the three youngest so mom could get some work done around the house and take care of older two. It was crazy, but fun! Washington State - 2 girls ages 5 & 8 (when started position) - Sept 2011 to July 2014. This position was a household manager/nanny position. Nanny duties include - Driving girls to/from school and after school activities. Assisting in homework. Preparing healthy lunches & dinners. Planning/arranging and carrying out play-date outing (zoo, movies, museums, arts & crafts, cooking, etc). Helping in school classroom when needed (library, art, cooking). Assisting with soccer (carpool, coaching, helping up to 8 girls get dressed and ready). Carpooling to ski lessons. Household manager duties - Grocery shopping. Preparing healthy meals. Laundry. Daily dished and tidy kitchen. Errand running. Organizing and de-cluttering girls room and playroom. Scrapbooking and photo organization. Decorating for holidays. Many other tasks. Utah - 1 boy-4mo, 2 girls-3&6 (when started) - Nov 2009 to June 2011. Activities I did with baby: He and I enjoyed reading together, playing with the big Lego blocks, going for walks, trips to that park, playing with bubbles, drawing with big sisters, and rolling around on the floor. He wasn't that fond of tummy time, but we still did it. The youngest girl had diabetes. I helped to plan healthy meals (for all children)and calculate proper dosage of insulin. I maintained her blood sugar levels throughout the day and adjusted them when needed by either giving her food or insulin, depending on her number. During the school year I worked with her every day on preschoool appropriate activities (math, reading, writing, calendar time, art & crafts). We went on occasional outings to the parks, mall, movies, zoo, museums. When we were at home we danced, played Wii, made play houses out of large cardboard boxed, played on swingset in back yard, rode bikes, etc. The older girl was in school most of the time. During summer we did all the earlier mentioned activities, and in addition we did daily "school time" activities. Although the children were my main responsibility I helped out with dinners, laundry, and housekeeping as well. I still keep in touch with this family and see them when I can. They are family to me now and will stay that way forever :) I have worked for two other family that were short term, but all had the same responsibilities.

A little bit about me…

I grew up in large family so I grew up raising children. I have fourteen nieces and nephews, and the majority of them live nearby so I babysit them very often. When I was thirteen I babysat a police officer's baby until he was one. I have babysat many of my neighbors children, and several children from different families at my church. I was really involved in helping to raise my sisters five year old, three year old, and newborn baby for six months because she had severe health problems. I'm going into special education so I have a lot of experience working with special needs children.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Mapleton, UT

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Mapleton Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Mapleton? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Mapleton?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in UT? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
