A little bit about me

I'm a Michigan native who just moved to Chicago this past January after spending 6 years in Hong Kong with my husband. We have a fur baby Cavachon puppy named Koko and are currently living in the Streeterville neighborhood. I love seeing babies and children grow and develop their unique personalities and talents. I have experience working with, tutoring, mentoring and caring for kids in the US and abroad. I hope to find a family to work for in Chicago by helping their children grow into the best versions of themselves, while also taking some of the stress and busyness of parenting out of the equation.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I nannied for a family of 4 throughout high school and college and still maintain a close relationship with the children. While I was in Hong Kong, I tutored a family with twins— boy and girl age 4. I also worked professionally in a couple different educational centers in Hong Kong working one-on-one as well as in groups with students between the ages of 2 and 10. Most recently, I had the privilege of caring for my niece this past spring when Covid hit and my sister had to continue working at her veterinary clinic even though her daycare provider closed her doors.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Going to the park, going to the children's museum, going to the zoo. Coloring with sidewalk chalk, reading stories like Dr. Seuss and the Children's Book of Virtues. Playing make believe and baking cookies and breads (kids love to help!). Playing on the swing set. Setting up treasure hunts. Going on nature walks. Doing puzzles and playing games like Memory and Connect 4.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I love the unabashed and unfiltered things kids say. Recently while watching a little 4yo girl, I exclaimed to her mom "She looks so grown up! She looks like she's 6!" The girl looked at me and said, "And you like like you're 7!" Her mom then asked "How old do I look?" To which she replied, "ummm...7:30."

When I was in Hong Kong tutoring 4yo twins, they would often get distracted while we were reading and point out my "blue eyes" and touch my "yellow hair." It was sweet to see their amazement in our physical differences that were so unique to them, but so common for me.

Aside from specific moments like the above, some of my favorite times are the quiet moments with kids when we're reading before bed or nap time and they are totally captivated in a story. I love fostering their imaginations with books.
