My name is Abi and I've been taking care of kids for five years.

I am currently a student at George Mason looking for a new family to work with whose schedules align with mine. I am available in the evening from 4:30 onwards.

My favourite part about being a childcare provider it's getting to unlock my inner child as well! Being a provider is a huge responsibility that can be tough at times but what makes it truly special is the ability to connect with young kids, get on their level and play with them, teach them, run around with them!

I am the kind of sitter that wants to be involved. I would prefer to engage in activities and help and play as opposed to just watching your child and keeping them out of harms wa.

Addition to my experience working as an au pair, i volunteered at elementary schools extracare programmes in my home country, South Africa, before moving to the United States

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I've spent five years working with kids ranging from 2 months to 10 years old and spent a lot of time finding crafts and activities to engage with them in. I absolutely love crafts and it's especially great for little kids who can practice their fine motor skills, learning to use scissors and exploring their imagination. Additionally, outdoor play is very important and I enjoy playing games and sports outside with the children i take care of. Taking care of kids is more than just watching over them and keeping them safe, it's engaging with them on their level. To me, that means sitting on the floor and playing together with toys or getting involved in their imaginative games.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a good influence. Children are very impressionable and, in my opinion, it's vital that if someone new is being introduced into their lives, it's a postive, happy and learning experience.

Definitely baking with my kids! Its my hobby and something i really love to do and being able to share that with them and have them enjoy it too is definitely a highlight.
