More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Growing up i always babysat for people around or close to me with younger kids and I always loved doing it. I then volunteered at a recreation center helping out with various things there such as getting them ready for different activities and being the head of their dance team; overseeing practices. Prior to graduation I spent some time nannying then went into childcare directly after. Post graduation I worked as a lead teacher for preschool and a substitute for all school ages. I also have job experience working with people with disabilities, both kids and adults as a BT and DSP. My most recent experience as a social worker allowed me to still support and help families without working with the children 1to1.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing various art projects with children as it’s fun for both parties and it allows them to fulfill their creative needs in the most free way in my opinion. Kids also learn better in this way so it can be a plus for fun and a lesson.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I feel it’s to be able to give a child the same if not more care as they would if they were your own family and make sure it’s not less than the care and attention their own family would give them in those moments as well, all while supporting and respecting the families differences or needs.
My experience with special needs children...
Outside of my personal experiences with family and loved ones having special needs children, I’ve worked 1to1 as a Behavior Technician helping clients develop skills needed for everyday based on age and mental capacity. I also spent time nannying for a young girl with autism.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Once when I was watching my aunts foster baby Xavier, I was trying to get him to say my name all day as he was on the edge of talking. My cousin kept saying it wouldn’t work but by the end of the day “kia” ended up being his first word and I was so excited but found it kind of funny as well. I think at this time I was around 16 years old but it still stands out to me today even as a early memory working with children.
