Hello, It is a pleasure to introduce myself! My name is Akindra! I’m 22 years old, from Richmond, Virginia. I am currently a full-time student at Richard Bland College of William and Mary! My major is psychology, however, my focus is on child development. One day, I do look forward to opening my own montessori daycare. I am a retired gymnast, so spend a lot of my time with the younger girls in my neighborhood teaching them flips and helping them learn cheers. Whenever I’m not busy, the kids are knocking on my door like I’m a child to come outside, but how can you tell them faces no lol. I’m literally the neighborhood auntie.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have always cared for children since I was a child lol. I grew up babysitting my cousins a lot and helping my mom with my younger siblings. However, I have ran my own at-home daycare since the year of covid. It honestly wasn’t planned, It started off with me just helping my nieces and nephews with virtual school. However, I also had elderly neighbors who wasn’t able to work a computer or help their grandchildren with virtual school. So I then took on all 3 of my neighbors grandkids, helping them navigate throughout the day. Meanwhile, days later I had many neighbors knocking and asking if they could drop their child off to me during school hours. I had soon took on the responsibility of 11 kids! I had already knew most of them due to me being outside with them so much, so it wasn’t too much of a hassle. I did have to come up with my own criteria for many kids who were behind, and was also responsible for feeding them and providing school essentials.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Anything that could put a smile on their little faces! I’m usually down for all activities with any age group. I can whoop your son in fortnite or teach your daughter how to cheer. I’m also a big roblox fan :)

My experience with special needs children...

I have a nephew whom is autistic & I love him too death!!! Yes, he do have many struggles and yes it can be a little hard sometimes but I ALWAYS understand him and will help him through anything!
