Hello, my name is Alarice and I am a 19-year-old college student. I am studying Music Therapy at UMKC and I love it. I've worked with children doing babysitting, leading groups at my church, and teaching swim lessons, as well as nannying in the past. I have a heart for caretaking and would love to nanny over the summer. I don't have children but if I did I know it would be difficult to leave them in someone else's care. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have had the pleasure of being a babysitter and summer nanny for over 8 years. It has been a blast watching her grow up.

I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor for over 2 years. Teaching lessons to small and large groups of children gave me lots of experience in child safety, having a very watchful eye, being a good communicator, and patience.

I have been a teacher at my church for around 6 years. I work with ages 2-6 as well as working in the infant room ages 6 months - 1 year.

I also have a handful of families that I occasionally babysit for when needed.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As a Music Therapy student singing and playing instruments is something I love doing with children. Arts and crafts are also a good way to get kids away from screens and using their hands. Spending time outside, playing, exploring, and walking are also fun things I like to do with children.

Providing safety and security for the children as well as peace of mind for parents.

My experience with special needs children...

I don't have much experience working with special needs children but i'm always willing to learn. I did work with a child in my swim lessons who had autism and was completely non-verbal. This was a unique experience and took a lot of learning on my part.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was asked to babysit for a family who had a baby on the way. I was on call for them for around a month so I could come and help out while the mother was in labour. It was such a beautiful experience to prepare the kids for their new brother and stay with them overnight their parents were in the hospital.
