Hello! My name is Alexis. I currently work for Lawrence County Schools as a preschool paraprofessional. At the moment I am pursuing my associates of early education at IvyTech with the plan to attend IUPUI for my bachelors. I love working with kids and have three siblings that I’ve helped care for. I’m Cpr/Aed/ First Aid certified and know ASL. I also am learning Spanish. Kids ages birth-5years are my first choice but all kids are welcome. Willing to drive, light house work , cook, and play! I do already own a reversible car seat, high back booster, and low back booster seat.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love adventures with the kids. Taking them to parks, on walks, and scavenger hunting. Many little kids love to collect cool things they find outside and I have a special bag we can take on walks to gather our rocks or leaves. I also enjoy taking kids to the movies, switchyard in Bloomington, the splash pad, wonderlab, trampoline parks, almost anything.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with children of various abilities. My first child was fully deaf and used ASL to communicate. I also have experience working with children who have various intellectual disabilities, hemophilia, seizures, wheelchairs and some other mobile aides, and children who are diabetic. I know how to administer insulin, pumps, diastat, and correct transfer procedures. I have the knowledge of how to safely handle aggression and to calmly redirect children to a safe activity.
