A little bit about me

I am 48 years old and have raised 3 children who are all out of the home and supporting themselves. I am currently finishing up my Bachelor of Arts in K-8 Interdisciplinary Studies at the end of this month. I love kids of all ages!!! I have taught preschool kids, elementary-aged kids, and junior high kids. I have always worked with kids and find it very fulfilling, as well as fun! I am upbeat and positive. I believe in a relationship of mutual respect with children although they do realize I'm in charge. I believe in working through conflict with kids and teaching them rather than just scolding. I believe every encounter with a child is a learning opportunity, whether we are on a nature walk or playing with playdough! I have recently finished up 16 weeks of student teaching in a fifth-grade class and I learned as much from them as they did from me. My favorite times were working with a student individually and figuring out how they learn and what makes them tick.
