More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I began babysitting at age 14, sitting for the same family for several years until their children were old enough to not need me anymore (sad, but inevitable!). At the same age I volunteered at my local elementary school, helping out in their preschool classrooms. I began working at the Little Dolphin School in Westbrook, Maine in June of 2020, and continue to work there whenever I am on break. My position is an assistant teacher, where I am in classrooms of children from 4 months old to 7 years old.

My experience with special needs children...
At the daycare and early education center I work at I work with special needs children every day. This includes but is not limited to children on the Autism spectrum, with ADHD, ODD, and anger management issues. Additionally, my sister is on the Autism spectrum. Growing up alongside her has given me insight, empathy, and strategy when working with special needs children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Not necessarily a nannying moment, but I was coloring with a girl in a pre-k classroom as we were waiting for her to be picked up, and when her mom walked in, the girl tells her that I’m Miss. Ava. Her mother then says “Oh, that’s the name you gave the doll you got for Christmas!”. It was a little victory, but I was proud nevertheless!
