A little bit about me

Hello, I'm Cecelia! I grew up playing sports as well as being involved in musicals, piano, voice lessons, and Argentine tango. I worked as a nanny, caregiver, and housekeeper for 6 years combined with multiple families in different states. While also working with children and adults with disabilities.
My most recent position was a House Manager/Caregiver for a private family. I oversaw and managed the daily operations and maintenance of the household. Scheduling, errands, cleaning, dietary restricted meals, caregiving.
I have a special love for animals, so if you have pets, they too will receive extra love and attention from me! I have fostered dogs, cats, and multiple kitten litters. I have experience with many health conditions in animals as well. I am a certified PCA. Traveled from house to house, and at times different facilities, taking care of the elderly and disabled kids as well as a previous NR EMT. I have worked with people anywhere from newborn to their late 90's.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a previous nanny for children of all ages both with and without disabilities. I have also worked with kids as a PCA (personal care attendant) and NR EMT as well as private families who infants and toddlers needed extra medical assistance from their nanny’s. For example, I was a nanny for a toddler who had been having open heart surgeries since the day he was born. He had a g-tube for food and medication but I was able to help wean him off of it when it came to eating over time since he no longer needed to be dependent on it. Due to his “stranger danger” I also helped assist with his speech therapy and physical therapy sessions at the house to help address his delay in fine motor skills, and reported everything back to his parents.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

It all depends on the age of the child and what they like to do. I believe it’s important to expose kids to different things and see what they love and motivates them. I love listening to music and dancing/singing and reading with kids of all ages. I also love playing sports and getting “older kids” in activities that can enhance their physical development and motor skills. Every child is unique in their own way, so being able to adapt to their specific age group, their needs and their interests is important to me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for the children in my care. This involves not only ensuring their physical well-being but also fostering their emotional and developmental growth. A great nanny builds trust with both the children and parents, communicates openly, and adapts to the unique needs of each child while maintaining structure and consistency.

My experience with special needs children...

I practically grew up around kids with different special needs my entire life. My mother was a Special ED teacher for an elementary school, so starting at the age of 5 I was already going into her classroom and “reading” to the class, and helping “teach” them their ABC’s and how to count. I did that all the way till I graduated high school. Due to that and my medical background, I have been exposed to all different types of special needs; autism, down syndrome, ADHD, cerebral palsy, behavioral issues are just to name a few.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I had a three year old boy that I was working for who was very developmentally behind physically. He had not even learned how to crawl let alone walk yet. Within three months of working with him and his family, he took his first steps. Knowing I was able to help him with that huge milestone and especially seeing the huge smile on his face when he did it, was absolutely incredible. Seeing how proud of himself he was the cutest thing ever!
