My experience with special needs children...
I worked with a Down syndrome child for 10 years. Doing meal prep, coming up with creative activities, Reading, play dates, putting to bed. I learned a lot working with this loving little one. Like how to to site and listen well when they talk, have a better understanding of working with emotions and children learning styles.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Had a little guy I would always tell it’s ok to make mistakes we just try again until we get it. He would get really upset if his blocks fell, or if he could not get a toy to do something, so will always talk about how it made him feel. Forward some time later I was having a bad day and made a mistake with something and said it out loud that I made a mistake. He hugged me and told me it’s ok to make mistakes I just need to try again and it was ok to be angry I will feel better soon. 🥰 . This and so much more. I guess my biggest reward is seeing kids grow and see they personality’s develop.
