More About Me
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
As a mama myself, I’ve delved deep into the world of creativity and imagination! As a parent you know that sometimes you have to think out of the box to keep these little ones occupied. Of course we all love the basics like flash cards, walks through the neighborhood, or singing their favorite songs. I also prioritize getting messy with arts and crafts, play-based learning, lots of outside time, reading, age appropriate STEM, and so much more.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, an efficient schedule for the littles is always beneficial to their development but giving them a little independence during their day is very important. At the beginning of working with a new family I always want to curate a schedule that compliments the one mom and dad already have, especially meal, nap, and potty times. We’d schedule our days around those and from there baby makes the choices. I love to have littles choose what they want to eat for breakfast/lunch, if they want to go outside and play, have a swim, read some books or do whatever their imagination desires. Then, around that I implement play-based learning, sign language, and instilling good habits.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve worked with autistic children of various ages! It’s important to get to know them through mom and dad first and then take an approach that may need to change here and there but nurtures their development. I’ve been very successful with baby sign language with non-verbal/verbally delayed littles as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It might be cliché, but honestly my favorite nanny moments are always watching the children I’m working with learn, grow, and gain confidence! I’ve had a conversation with a mother before when she brought it up to me jokingly that her friend’s 17-month-old was singing his ABCs before her 18-month-old baby girl and asked what she should do about that. Lo and behold just a month later we had her babygirl memorizing her alphabet phonics as well as over 30 sight words with just 30mins a day of dedicated play-based learning activities.
