More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I helped both my sisters raise their children from birth up until they were 10yrs old. I also volunteered in various children’s homes via different NGOs and taught kids life/social skills. Recently I signed up for teaching assistant position with EEP in OR, and loved working with special needs pre kindergarten children. I learnt a lot of new skills especially supporting kids to learn at their own pace in order to encourage independence & self-direction.
Some years back I worked with young adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities and that was the beginning of my journey towards becoming a nanny or caregiver.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy being outdoors with the kids, exploring and learning from nature. Going to the park to play is also fun.
I like to make things with my hands so I’d probably enjoy play doh more than anything else. Making up different shapes or structures using Lego.
I like water sports and like to see children use their imagination to create fun memorable moments.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Being kind and nurturing and also building a strong and loving connection. It’s important to collaborate with the parents and have a flexible schedule to suit their needs.
Safety and wellbeing of the children is vital for parents peace of mind.

My experience with special needs children...
I’ve taught special needs children that were nonverbal. I learnt new communication skills and positive communication skills. A lot of the times one had to read the children’s body language and also anticipate their needs in order to respond appropriately.
In this role I learnt to be patient and also that staying calm always helped the children cope better with the tasks in hand or deescalate tension.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My most favorite moment was seeing non verbal children interacting positively with others, learning to take turns and applying their social skills.

Full-Time Nanny Available in Seattle, WA: Nura A.
Hi, my name is Nura. I am currently a sophomore at Barnard College, a Seattle Academy alum, and a Rainier Scholar, studying English. I plan to go into publishing or public health in the future. I’m excited to work as a nanny because I already have experience working with children—from teaching them to creating curricula focused on youth literacy. I’m also looking forward to returning to Seattle for winter break and connecting with the kids about growing up here; it was truly one of my favorite experiences.
Babysitter Available in Seattle, WA: Melisa E.
I just completed a two-year period caring for a beautiful 4-month-old baby girl. What a wonderful experience it was to be by her side, attentive to her needs, care for her, and give her so much love. I love working with children because you can teach them so much and learn from them at the same time. Their growth and development are so important; I like to focus a lot on interactive play where children can discover new things and continue to grow up healthy and happy.
