A little bit about me

Hello everyone! My name is Deaysia and I am 25 years old. I just moved here from California and I’ve been caring for kids for a little over 6 years now. I have a non verbal nephew who is now 7 years old and being educated on his condition made me love working with others just like him. I have worked in the Boys and Girls club since I was in high school and ultimately knew I would want to continue to work with children. I am avid roller skater, I love to dance and occasionally paint. I am currently going back to school for my AA in Psychology and would love the flexibility to get my work done while still doing what I love and I feel being a nanny definitely provides that for me. I would say my biggest flaw is not being a fan of dogs so I apologize if that knocks me out the running :( but I am looking forward to getting to know you, hopefully I am the nanny for you! 😇

Skating or biking, painting, dancing, reading books, making club houses, beginner cooking classes, and any other activities the children are into.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being understanding, hearing the child for what they are saying but mostly what they are not saying. A child’s body language will tell you so much more than the words they speak and that’s just as important. Most children know good energy and that’s why they are picky with who they want to be around, I listen to that intuition.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a nephew who was diagnosed with ASD and sensory disorder. He was nonverbal for about 4 years and he is now completing sentences, going to school and interacting with other children and being the child he would like to be. It’s not about having patience, it’s about learning about children on the spectrum, understanding that there are different kinds of people in the world and not see them as weird or anything less than what they are and that truly starts at home.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I recently kept 5 children for a family who attended a funeral and they were so interested in my age so when I told them I was 25 yrs old, two things happened. 1. I was told I look 12 and go back to middle school and secondly, they asked how do I have a life without kids by this age and while it was funny it was great question. I am the youngest of 5 so seeing my mother being a single parent really did paint a picture at a young age that I just didn’t see myself recreating but in that moment, looking at the products of such a loving couple I wanted to reconsider that and maybe one day I will.
