My background is in recreation and hospitality, and I have experience working in the recreation department of the hotel industry. A big part of my role was working with kids ages 3–13, planning and leading activities, and making sure everyone was having an exciting and safe time.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I think it's very important to learn about each child's personality and then get creative and find activities that align with their interests. I love keeping kids engaged with a mix of creative, educational, and outdoor activities! However, some of my favorite things to do are reading together, drawing, coloring, painting, and trying fun age-appropriate science experiments. I also love getting outside for walks and scavenger hunts, all that fun stuff!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I really enjoy getting to know all different types of kids, adapting activities to different ages and personalities, and creating an environment where they feel comfortable being themselves. Working with kids through recreation has been such a rewarding experience and is a big reason I’m excited to continue working with families in Chico!
My experience with special needs children...
I have minimal experience working with children with special needs. However, when we did have children with special needs participating in activities at my previous job, we would communicate with their parents thoroughly before hand to ensure we were adapting the activity in a way that would still create a fun experience for them.
