A little bit about me

I'm blessed to be a preschool teacher, caring for 2 & 3-year-old toddlers. Professionally, I've been a preschool teacher of 18-month-olds to 6-year-olds, but have been a nanny to children of all ages. I have tutored elementary to high schoolers academically as well. I am a cleaning fanatic, am capable of cooking almost any meal, schedule management, and tutoring. Growing up in a family of 10 children, I know how difficult and seemingly impossible maintaining a home, fostering a relationship with your children, and keeping your sanity can be and want to help in whichever way I can. As for me, I am an aspiring child psychologist and my goal is to nurture, love, and care for children in whatever way they need. I adore my three cats Beowulf, Leopold, and Lady Lemon. What I like to do: read history books, bake desserts, and play volleyball for fun. I love to foster a child's sense of wonder for the world and walk alongside them as they discover who they are!

She is very engaging with my 2 littles and always brings something for my 3.5 year old girl to play with or to engage in. The most important part about being a nanny...

Meeting the family where they’re at. There is so much pressure on families, especially mothers, to be “perfect.” I wholeheartedly believe that my job working with children is to create a safe environment where they can make mistakes, laugh, and just be a child. Sometimes that means cleaning a cluttered room, following a strict family schedule, or brainstorming on parenting strategies for a behavior that has the parents at their wits’ end. Whether I am a preschool teacher, babysitter for seasoned parents of 4, or a part time nanny for an overwhelmed single parent, the most important thing I do is help take work off parents’ plates so they can be fully present and enjoy parenthood.

My experience with special needs children...

As a preschool teacher of young toddlers, I am typically the first person to notice developmental irregularities and inform parents. I assess my students with ASQs and direct parents to resources such as ECE when their child may need additional services. Although I do not officially work with special needs children , I have had students with different medical, behavioral, and socioemotional needs. Even if a child may not be officially “special needs,” I do believe that every caregiver needs to adapt to each unique need of that child and provide a respectful environment in which that child can thrive.
