Hello, I'm Elissa, a 22 year old Lutheran women.
I grew up on a farm with my mom and dad and Nine siblings. I started as a Nanny when I was 16. I now live in the city of Indianapolis. I work part time retail at Meijer and I help teach a martial art program with Krannert Park, I enjoy teaching and mentoring these young students, I also enjoy making their environment a safe and peacful one for them to grow in.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I opened my own Martial arts dojo in Elwood Indiana in 2018 and taught a children's program with many great students there untill my move to Indianapolis in 2020. I began teaching again this past August with an existing school through Krannert Park.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy games of hide an seek, tag, encouraging the young to innovate their imagination through puzzles, magic tricks, and make believe, telling stories, reading books, and at the last, playing clean up.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When caring for a child, the most important thing is to be there. To be willing to go to their level, to see how they see, and completely take their needs far above your own. True care and compassion is not shown by kindness far off, but in the moment and by self sacrificial love. Caring for the youths is not promised to always be easy, but it far more important that it is done especially while knowing this.

My experience with special needs children...

The most experience I have with special needs is a with a student of mine who struggled with learning disabilities and Autism. I have found with patience and mutual understanding, no problem is too big. No challenge to hard. No victory too small.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite Nanny moment was with my nephew Jack, he was 2 at the time, we went outside to feed apples to our goats. Jack carried one apple and I carried the bucket. When we got to the pen, Jack refused to leave any of the goats out, making sure each one had a fair share, he made piles of apples for each goat and each goat waited patiently for him, completely trusting his generosity. In that moment I witnessed true beauty and the purest form of care, untainted by adult concerns or ideals. In that moment I saw the world through the eyes of a 2 year old, and It was good.
