A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Blevins. I've worked with kids since I was 13 years old and have a distinct passion for it. I started off nannying right around high school, as well as doing volunteer work for The Boys and Girls Club In Whitestown, IN. I later was recruited to work as staff and eventually became promoted to Education Coordinator. Some of my roles included tutoring
, STEM activities, Diversity and inclusion programs, and emotional behavior / awareness programs to teach children positive coping skills (Smart Moves). I currently work for an after school program at an elementary school in North Liberty as a Lead staff. I also have a strong affection for working w/ kids who have disabilities- both learning & physical. I'm looking mainly for part time due to being a student @ University of Iowa and also working at an elementary school. I would be available weekday evenings, as well as anytime on the weekends. ( fully vaccinated + flexible on pay for the right family!)

My experience with special needs children...

In high school, I was a member of best buddies & involved in a class to help peer tutor special need kids. This included both life skills, as well as academic help. I also have nannied for children w/ both physical & mental disabilities . I'm minoring in ASL too to be better versed! I have a close family member with Down syndrome, so it's overall something very dear to my heart.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments was mentoring a kid who had issues speaking due to her shyness at The Boys and Girls Club. After building a connection with her, all of the staff, including me, noticed her drastic change in engagement to communicating with her peers. Knowing I was able to help build her confidence is something I will truly never forget.
