A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Emelia! I am a graduate of Manhattan School of Music where I studied opera. I love finding new hobbies to learn, currently I am teaching myself to play the ukulele! I am a fun loving & detail oriented person, born & raised in the Midwest.
As the youngest of the family, I was surrounded by my siblings’ & cousins’ children from an early age. As soon as I was old enough, I got my babysitting license and spent most of my summers through middle and high school watching the kids in my community and of my very large family, giving me over 15 years of experience with childcare. In high school, I completed a certificate in early childhood education, which entailed creating lesson plans that were both engaging and developmental. I love to find ways to make development fun!
In my free time, I love to clean, read, sing, frequent museums, bake and craft! I am hoping to find a family looking for a nanny that will provide the best care and create the most fun for your children!

My daughter adores her! Emelia is super confident with kids of all ages (she started sitting for us when our daughter was only a few months old) and takes a real interest in each child she looks after. She plans fun activities to help keep our little one engaged and they always have a blast together. "Very wonderful with children. She is a creative and musical person and spent a lot of time singing and creating art projects. It was such a tremendous help to have Emelia take care of my children during the pandemic as I am a nurse and was unable to work from home. She kept my children on track with virtual school and made quarantine fun for them by keeping them active outside and engaged and safe indoors. And a bonus was coming home to cooked meals and a clean house. She is reliable, caring and loves children and I always felt safe knowing my children were in good hands."

My experience includes 15 years of babysitting/nannying experience. I also have experience working in a daycare and lesson planning, helping run summer art and stem camps and I currently watch 2 little boys on Tuesday evenings.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some of my favorite activities to do with children are arts and crafts, reading and telling stories, singing songs and dancing around, baking/cooking, building blanket forts and playing all sorts of games!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for the child. Encouraging the children through positive reinforcement and support to help them develop their self esteem and confidence. Encouraging their curiosity, creativity and independence in the supportive environment you created is also an important part of nannying.
