More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteer every year at the preschool where my mom works. I've been helping out there since I was old enough to be helpful to the younger kids. The past few years I've been going as many days as I could and I am trying to find a way to volunteer there as a class option (though this is hard to fit into my schedule of honors classes and sports so it may not happen). I have also babysat many ages of kids. I have less experience with older kids and infants under 6 months. I have never been a nanny. I have had jobs close to it though.Such as, the time I babysat a 1.5 year old every weekday for 2 weeks from 7 am to 5 pm.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy going on walks and having out door time. I also love doing small projects most of which I've found from volunteering in my mother's preschool class. Science experiments, especially the low mess kind, are my favorite. In my life these activities at home and school gave me the interest in the STEM field that I have today. I also enjoy reading stories. I love to share the books that I was read as a baby, though that might not seem very far in the past.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I really enjoy working with kids. I love to teach them and see them grow in their skills and vocabulary. I want experience working with kids because one day I hope to be a pediatrician or pediatric nurse.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not yet had one on one experience dealing with special needs kids. Most of my experience comes from volunteer work in a preschool classroom. I have helped but do not feel comfortable caring for a child with special needs on my own yet. I would need to gain more experience and learn more about how to help and care for a child with special needs.
