A little bit about me

I am an online college student studying to become an accountant. I currently work as a full time tutor for a homeschool family, and I tutor and babysit on the side. I lived overseas in Japan for about 15 years, so I love interacting with differing cultures and traditions. I love to read and do most any kind of craft, particularly crochet. Keeping my hands and brain busy is very important to me. I also love to stay active and go on hikes and walks with friends and family. I do not have any allergies to pets, and I am very comfortable with most kinds of animals. I personally have two cats that are very precious. I also have a love for very old architecture and fashion, so most days I will be wearing something from my late grandmother.

I have worked as a substitute and tutor in a small but diverse Christian school. This gave me a lot experience working with children from different backgrounds. I babysat throughout middle school and high school. I currently work as a tutor, where I am constantly learning how to present material in a way that helps my students understand it clearly.

I like to do most things with children. Seeing children play pretend and imagine all kinds of stories and worlds is very intriguing to me. I love to do activities that build necessary skills in children and help them develop their interests and abilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of working with children in any capacity for me is a strong connection and understanding with their parents or guardians. This involves keeping an open communication of plans, methods, problems, etc. When communication and understanding are high, it allows me to be more effective in my work.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with children with a variety of special needs. In my tutoring, I focus a lot on those who may need extra help with their homework or in some other subject they are having a difficult time with. In my current job, my student has ASD and struggles a lot with emotional regulation, so we have worked a lot on methods and plans to help him.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I would have to say my favorite moments are when I have been working with a child for a while, and they show me a drawing of us. Sometimes they have given me their art, and I adore keeping it in a folder and remembering each one.
